Nexus 7

It seems like people really do love 7" tablets priced at $200 and branded by known companies (Google & Amazon) because word has it that retail partners have already begun reporting that the Google Nexus 7 is sold out.

According to a Reuters report, GameStop, Staples, Sam's Club, Office Depot, and Walmart have all listed the tablet as sold out. And, keep in mind that the Nexus 7 still hasn't officially hit store shelves, these are all pre-orders.

Supposedly, GameStop has actually already run through its first two allocations of the tablet, and won't be seeing its third allocation arrive until August. And, as of today, the websites for Staples, Sam's Club, Walmart, and Office Depot are all listing the tablet as being out of stock. This all happening before the tablet has even officially gotten a street date.

Nexus 5 Phone is Very Curved

Nexus 5 Phone is Curved, Very Curved…

Designer Sph1re from Deviantart has created the next Nexus Phone concept, which he calls the Nexus 5. We’re dealing with a very rounded and curved handset here, both in profile and edges. It’s shaped like an hourglass and I am extremely curious how such a model would feel in the user’s hand.
Nexus 5 Phone is Curved, Very Curved...
As you can see, the Nexus 5 phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it has 3 capacitive buttons, classic for Android and a camera at the back with flash. WiFi and LTE should be available, as well as NFC and maybe the rumored quad core Snapdragon processor. There’s also a special lid at the back bottom area, that maybe hides the microSIM and microSD card slots. Seeing that this model is so curved and thin, it looks very fragile and there’s something about it that screams HTC and somehow… Alcatel?! The front camera integration doesn’t quite convince me, since it’s too close to the edge, but other than that I’m happy with this design. It may be a bit too curved to feel like a serious smartphone and it may look a bit too playful. However, I think it’s a breath of fresh air, with all those rectangles out there.

After banning Galaxy Nexus, Apple lawyers tries To Ban Samsung Galaxy S3 sales the US

Apple ban Galaxy S III

After Apple banned the Galaxy Nexus in the US. Apple lawyers has a new target, the Korean Companies brand new Galaxy S3, Apple is trying to ban the Galaxy S3 sales on its home town U.S. due to infringed patents.

Last Month, Apple filed a lawsuit in the U.S. requesting a sales ban on Samsung's new Galaxy S III and stop it from reaching the US carries, after doing the same with carriers in Australia. Samsung Galaxy Note II release date

Samsung Galaxy Note II to be announced August 30 at the IFA expo in Berlin with an Unpacked event

http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/article/32222-image/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-II-to-be-announced-August-30-at-the-IFA-expo-in-Berlin-with-an-Unpacked-event.jpg

After the Samsung Galaxy S III was already announced, shipped to carriers, and in the hands of consumers in a very short amount of time, now we have turned to the next great thing expected from Samsung this year - the Galaxy Note II.

While speculation has been rampant about it - from "just a supersized S III", to having a flexible display - the consensus seems to be it will have a larger, maybe 5.5" screen, than the current Note, yet be a tad more compact, due to some bezel shenanigans. Quad-core Exynos is a given, and there are rumors about a 12MP camera, but if history is any indication, Samsung will most likely put its 8MP shooter from the S III there.

When are we going to see it hit the streets, though? Well, rumors were for an announcement as soon as next month, and sales in September, beating the iPhone 5 rush (though these two are not exactly in the same category), and now a report from the Korean DDaily says Samsung will hold an event August 30, on the eve of the IFA electronics expo in Berlin.

These Unpacked events have become a hallmark for important new product launches for Samsung since last year, so we are expecting nothing short of the Galaxy Note II there. Last year the IFA expo show the Note announced at an Unpacked event right at its onset, so we can safely assume the same thing happening now with the Note II.

According to thinkios source, Apple's iPad Mini will have a 7-inch screen, and will be 5.3-inch wide and 7.87-inch long. For the sake of comparison, the new iPad is 9.50-inches tall, 7.31-inches wide, and has a depth of 0.37-inches.

iPad mini

The new info is the size as the iPad Mini is shown to be just 0.29" (7.3mm) thin, almost as slender as the iPod touch, which will make it the slimmest slate on the market. It is also allegedly 5.3" (134.7mm) wide and 7.87" (200mm) tall.

iPad mini

Unlike Google's Nexus 7, the new iPad Mini will feature a rear camera as well as a front camera for Facetime. It is unknown at this point of time whether the device will have a 5-megapixel camera like the new iPad or will carry a VGA camera just like the iPod touch 4th generation and iPad 2.

Samsung takes over the Chinese Market in 2012

samsung

First, we have to mention that in the past China was one of Symbian's strongholds, Nokia had a couple of deals with local carriers and basically everything seemed locked in for the future.

China 2011 - 2012

Turns out, though, a lot has changed in the last year and now Nokia has tumbled catastrophically giving away the lead to Samsung and Apple, of course. Samsung has now taken over as the biggest phone maker in China, followed by Cupertino, and that's one thing that makes the Asian country similar to the States.

If The iPad Was Inspired By Microsoft Surface

If The iPad Was Inspired By Microsoft Surface

ipad-physical-keyboard-concept-design

Ever since Microsoft announced their Surface tablet recently, people have been talking about the quite clever incorporation of an actual physical keyboard. It seems one of the really great things about this new tablet is that you are not entirely limited by the touchscreen and what it has to offer, but instead you can still type away in the old-fashioned style in order to make work a lot more efficient. Even Apple fans have started to envy the approach, and there are already numerous threads on the Internet trying to convince Apple to actually implement something similar into their already highly successful iPad. It’s hard to say if this will ever happen of course, but it would certainly be an ingenious move if they actually managed to implement it Apple-style.
Even if that doesn’t happen, there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to see what it would look like, right? Luis Pedro Fonseca, a talented industrial designer, thought it was time to see what would happen if he took some inspiration from the Microsoft Surface table and incorporated some of its features into an iPad. Through that, he gives us the opportunity to check out what a physical keyboard would actually look like on an iPad.

This concept design, called iPad Surface, is a clever contribution to a world full of great designs that we will most likely never see in real life. However, innovation is all about trying to push what is already out there and make something new from it. Since Apple has their own opinion about where user friendly interfaces and controls are headed, I highly doubt we will see a standard physical keyboard on an iPad anytime soon. It’s kind of sad, but the iPad is already very successful and people have adjusted to the touchscreen keyboard, so why switch now right? Do you think you would use the iPad more in your daily work if you had a physical keyboard at your disposal? Or would you still prefer it the way it is now?

Apple to launch new iPad in China on Friday, July 20

That was fast. Just weeks after settling the dispute over iPad trademark rights in China, Apple is set to sell its latest iPad device in the country. The new iPad will be available for sale in China starting July 20, Apple announced Tuesday.
The latest iPad model, with Retina display and option for cellular connectivity, will sell for the equivalent U.S. prices in China. It will be available from Apple online and from its six retail stores, as well as other authorized resellers.
http://gigaom2.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/tim-cook-new-ipad.jpg?w=362&h=241
The pre-order process will be a bit different than previous device launches. Apple is inviting customers to come to its stores in the country to make a reservation during a three-hour period, between 9 a.m. and noon starting Thursday, July 19. All reserved iPads can then be picked up the next day. Apple is clearly looking to avoid the chaos that has engulfed previous device launches at its stores in the country, like the iPhone 4S launch in January — lines became very long and near riots broke out, forcing Apple to call in local authorities and close down stores.
Apple had been entangled in a dispute over rights to the iPad name with Proview, the company that originally sold Apple the global trademark in late 2009. Last year Proview said that Apple didn’t properly purchase the rights to use the name in China. After almost a year of court battles, Apple settled with Proview for $60 million last week.
That decision to settle, while it could already be inviting additional trademark and copyright lawsuits in the country, clearly was the quickest path forward to getting the device on stores shelves in China.

Interestingly, the Nexus 7 is listed at $259.99 for the 16 GB version with a link to Best Buy's price match guarantee right underneath it. We're not sure why you would opt to pay $10 more for the device, unless perhaps you have some Reward Zone certificates to burn through.

Verizon's website now shows July 12th launch date for Samsung Galaxy S III

Verizon

Those Verizon customers who had the foresight to pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S III have to be thankful that they had followed their inner voice. The Samsung Galaxy S III has started to arrive at the front door of those who pre-ordered the sizzling hot phone.

Less thankful are those Big Red customers who were looking to buy the handset as soon as they were available in Verizon stores. Originally, the phone was supposed to be available at Verizon locations on July 9th. That was pushed back a day at a time until a leaked ad from a retailer pointed to July 12th as the launch date for the S3 device.

Nokia Lumia 900 in Magenta is Now Official- Available on At&t Starting July 15th

Nokia
So Today the addition of a stunning new color that's sure to make you stand out from the crowd. The Nokia Lumia 900 gonna be soon available in the US from AT&T in a beautiful pink color.

And this is NOT a cover, or a coat of paint; but pure magenta polycarbonate through and through (good to know); you can pick one up at any at&t store come July 15th or you can preorder online if you wish @ att.com
So it good to Release a new color until we get WP8, consider this a filler device; something to keep things interesting without putting too much effort into it, at least it's a lot more reasonable than releasing a whole new phone as we've heard rumors that the Lumia 910 might be another WP7.5 device; which honestly would be kind of stupid at this time.

iOS 6 Maps Code hints at tie-in with OS X version

iOS 6 Maps Code hints at tie-in with OS X version

iOS
Cody Cooper, The iOS developer did a code dump of the new Apple Maps app from the iOS 6 beta, and found some interesting pieces of information that could point to OSX integration with Intel-based Macs. Especially Cody found a reference deep within the altitude_manifest.xml file to a set of Intel-based chipsets for which certain features such as shading are disabled.
Right now it is not firm proof that Apple is working on OSX support for Apple Maps,But it could point to at least some new map functionality being worked into OSX Mountain Lion. For example, 9 to 5 Mac notes that location features in iPhoto for OSX could integrate with iOS maps on an iDevice.

yeah, it could mean absolutely nothing, and no Apple Maps functionality could ultimately be found in OSX Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is scheduled to be released to the public later this month, so we should know before too long what the final version of the software would bring. If Apple Maps was included in OSX Mountain Lion, how would you use it? What integration between Maps for OSX and iOS you like to see, if Maps for OSX does in fact exist?

Galaxy Nexus ban temporarily lifted

Galaxy Nexus Ban Lifted
A sales ban ordered on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the United States has been temporarily lifted, Bloomberg reports. Samsung’s request of a stay on the ban was approved by U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh, but the temporary lift will only last until Apple provides the judge with new information she has requested, which is due by July 12th. By then, however, it shouldn’t matter — Google confirmed that a software patch will be issued next week to address the universal search technology Samsung’s smartphone was found to be infringing. Earlier on Friday, Samsung’s request to stay a sales ban on its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet was rejected.

Nokia 808 PureView in stock at Amazon

Last month, when Nokia finally caved and announced that it would offering the Nokia 808 PureView in the U.S., Amazon said it would release the device on July 8th. Well guys, take a look at your calendar. And right on time, Amazon's website shows the Nokia 808 PureView as being in stock and available for purchase at the expected price of $699, which means no carrier subsidy on this unit.
The Nokia 808 PureView camera
The Nokia 808 PureView camera
When the phone with the 41MP camera sensor was first announced by Nokia, the Finnish based manufacturer said that the phone would not be coming to the States. It wasn't that Nokia didn't feel that Americans were worthy of the new PureView technology, it was the Symbian OS that led to the decision. Americans do not have any loyalty to the OS, but they do love technology, especially consumer electronics. As soon as the device was announced, a cry came up in the U.S. for a Windows Phone, Lumia branded model with PureView. Nokia VP Richard Kerris says that is going to happen, but with U.S. smartphone fanatics demanding the Nokia 808 PureView, finally Nokia gave in. Of course, with RIM and Nokia competing to see whose stock drops to zero first, Nokia needs to collect coinage wherever it can, so at the end of the day it probably was not a hard decision to make.

The Verizon launch for the Samsung Galaxy S III is once again rumored to take place on July 12th
But the launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S III started to go in reverse and once again, July 10th was penciled in as the date for Verizon's launch. And that is where things stood for a few days and with talk that the pre-orders were on their way, it looked like this was the date that would be locked in. But one thing that we have learned with carrier's launch dates is that they are about as firm as soggy oatmeal. So here it is, Sunday night, just two days away from one of the most anticipated handset launches of the year for the nation's largest carrier, and Verizon's own web site reveals the shocking news that the release is delayed two days to July 12th.

At least the price remains the same. $199.99 with a signed two-year contract for the 16GB model in Marble White or Pebble Blue. The 32GB unit runs $249.99 with the signed contract and the same choice of colors. Verizon customers must feel like they are jinxed and that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III will never happen.

Thanks, John!

New Facebook Phone Design

New Facebook Phone Design With HTC Traits, Imagined by Michal Bonikowski

Michal Bonikowski created a very appealing Facebook Phone concept that we’ve shown you a while ago and now he’s back with a new idea. He took his own design and did some modifications, imagining what it would look like if HTC made it. The profile of the phone looks great and the only objection I have is that the device is a tad too wide. Overall great work Michal!
New Facebook Phone Design With HTC Traits, Imagined by Michal Bonikowski
Other than that everything is cool, there’s even a FB button for a Home button, a metallic back (aluminum maybe?), a camera with flash (8MP sensor?) and a very interesting earpiece area at the front. There’s a lot of metal involved in the design of the concept Facebook handset, compared to the usual plasticky devices seen lately, Samsung Galaxy S III included. It’s true, it may be polycarbonate in some cases, but metal is still metal. Also that blend between gray metal and black plastic at the back is pretty interesting.
Now it’s time for me to speculate on the specs: 4.5 inch HD display, dual core Snapdragon S4 CPU (1.5 GHz), 8GB of storage or maybe 16GB plus a revolutionary Facebook cloud storage service, that will offer maybe 100GB (they have the servers after all). There’s also a front camera (1.3MP or 2MP), a back 8MP camera, I guess and 1GB of RAM. NFC and LTE are optional… Also the price will be very affordable for this Facebook Phone mockup and it could even get some ads on it to decrease the price.
